1. Emergency Lock Out/Car Opening
Car lockouts occur mainly because most people instinctually lock their car doors when exiting their vehicle, leaving the keys in the ignition while stepping out of the vehicle for a minute. It has happened to all of us.
We find that people will typically lock themselves outside of their cars during the winter, early on cold mornings. Since many of us enjoy turning on the ignition of our cars to let the heater run for a couple of minutes before getting in. What usually happens next is very frustrating. Being locked outside of your car early in the morning during the winter is not fun for anyone.
Refrain from leaving your car without having your key in hand. If you made sure to lock your car doors before leaving your car, you should keep in mind that it doesn’t help if your keys are in the car.
If you regularly use your car for work, lockouts can occur more often. One way of preventing a lockout is to keep a duplicate either on you or at an accessible place where you can retrieve it.
2. Trunk Opening/Keys Locked Inside
Trunk openings are our second most common auto locksmith service call. Generally, trunk lockouts occur when people are leaving a store or arriving home from a shopping trip. While holding many packages people accidentally place the keys inside the trunk and close it without thinking.
Remember to put your keys back in your pocket after opening your trunk when loading or unloading shopping bags or luggage in/out of your trunk.
3. Remake Lost/ Broken Keys
Making customers new car keys that have either been lost or broken is a regular occurrence at Trust Locksmith. Remaking keys these days is no longer a simple process. Not only do keys have to be cut but they also have to be programmed in order to deactivate the car’s immobilizer system. This requires an experienced locksmith equipped with special diagnostic keys tools and software in order to reprogram the transponder key. The technicians at Trust Locksmith have the most cutting edge technology to help you with all of your automotive locksmith needs.
4. Extract Broken Keys From Ignition/Door Cylinder
Key extractions are not as common as they used to be and generally occur in older car models. Over the past few years, the level of technology utilized in car door and ignition systems has increased by leaps and bounds. The process of turning a key has become something more akin to turning on a light switch rather than physically adjusting a locking mechanism. Breaking a key in the ignition or door cylinder can be an incredible hassle, especially when it breaks inside the ignition. An experienced locksmith can help you extract the broken key without doing damage to the ignition or door cylinder.
Sometimes your car will not allow you to turn the ignition if the wheel alignment is not straight, if you sense difficulty turning the key, try to straighten the front wheels of your car by pulling the steering wheel to either direction. Try turning the key again only after straightening the wheel alignment.
5. Repair/Replace Broken Ignition
A broken car ignition will completely debilitate the vehicle and requires the services of an experienced locksmith to repair or replace it. An experienced locksmith will be able to remove the ignition and either repair or replace it without doing any damage either to the ignition or the car.
The licensed and highly experienced technicians at Trust Locksmith are capable of handling all of the above issues and much much more.
